Cards for Silent Auction

Where are the days going?

Have worked some extra shifts as colleagues all taking summer holidays and of course we are doing that later in the year.
Have had out of town company for a few days - lots of fun to spend time with a favorite sister in law. Once we were on our own, we went out for lunch, went to see Mama Mia and laughed our heads off. Then the second night we drove to Canmore to watch my nephew perform in the Oh Canda Eh Dinner Theatre. I am so proud of that man - to watch him morph into a super talented performer. How wonderful that must be!
Anyway we sure had a good time - we always do, come to think of it - she and I think a lot alike.
Have been enjoying my garden and watching the wonderful flowers bloom in the heat.
Now I have a new project. This favorite sister in law sings in a barbershop quartet and they have a fundraiser in the fall so I will be making packets of cards for the group's silent auction. Have already got a few made and will post pictures of them. Really enjoying this project and have to have something to keep me busy while Ali is away in Fiji and out of touch (not able to skype!)
Pictures of garden and cards to follow!
Thanks for visiting!

Eventful day

My day started off with taking my son's dog to groomers for trim then on to buy primer & paint for the half bath. Got started priming only to miss a telephone call. Thank goodness she left message on answering machine. It was a work colleague asking if I had remembered we were supposed to be at Stage West for Matinee - there I was painting - no shower this morning - thought I'd wait until I had priming done - so I quickly changed - applied some makeup and took off. Made it just in time. She had made a couple of plates of food waiting for me....worried I wouldn't make it before the meal was over - so just arrived and there was my meal waiting for me - Kathleen is a dear!
Was a wonderful musical about middle age and how forgetful people are - I laughed a lot - probably more because of how my day had gone. Once show was over had to race home to collect son's dog at groomers. Son picked up dog and hubby and I finished priming and painting the half bath. It is now 10:30 and the both of us are pooped....but the bathroom sure looks nice. Good color choice - fawn beige!

cards arrived in mail

Received this card from Irene H. as part of a monthly group exchange. The technique she used is called Faux Silk - stamp images on tissue paper, carefully color images, crumple tissue paper then smooth tissue paper. Apply adhesive to neutral cardstock and spread tissue over adhesive. Trim excess - Sounds easy - famous last words!
Lovely card - thanks Irene for sharing not only your talent but your technique.
The other card is from Karen G. - she used hot pink and cool caribbean colors to create this wonderful card. Thanks Karen and the saying is so right "Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.

Best Birthday Ever!

Well have just celebrated a great birthday - started off with coffee with an old friend, then a trip to LSS, then on to lunch with step-sister followed by dinner with hubby, son and his significant other. An online friend sent me a total of 8 online birthday cards - they just kept coming - and flowers arrived in the afternoon from my daughter in Australia.
Life doesn't get much better - thank you all for making this day so wonderful!

more great cards

Catherine sent me a card - she is buying two of my dragonfly stamps so sent a card with payment - it is the lavender card with the little girl on the front - cute heh? The other card is from Ami who belongs to two of the yahoo groups. It is a birthday card - what I want to know is how did she know it is my birthday soon? She said a little bird told her! Love the variety of dress forms!
The third card is from Danni who colored this pretty fairy and put lots of sparkles on it - how did you know I love sparkles?!
