Where has the week gone?????

Well daughter has been here exactly a week (and three hours to be exact). We have been flying around - finally found a dress for mother of the bride - didn't realize how stressed I was about finding one until I found it and bought it. Will be here in approx three months - needs slight alterations - I just love it. Totally different than what I was looking for but daughter pulled it and asked me to try it on and you know when you try something on and it just feels right - well that is how this dress was - love, love, love it.
Got the flowers mostly done - still some decisions re cake -
Ben arrived Thursday night and good news is Ben likes the venue - the four of us went to see it Friday morning - looks totally different in the winter with snow all about.
So we are getting there - think we have the invitations nailed down - all we have to do is make them.
These next six months are going to fly......

She's Here!!!!

Our daughter arrived last night at 1800 after more than 24 hours travel time - Brisbane to Melbourne to LA to Calgary - came home to pizza and bed - she slept for almost 12 hours and was up and at it by nine this am - have visited a bridesmaid and done some shopping - the whirlwind begins!

She's on her way!!!!!!!!

Just talked with Ali - she is at the airport in the airport in Brisbane. Waiting to get flight to Melbourne - then 2 hours to wait for LA flight - oh happy day!

Two More Sleeps!!! and some cards

Can't believe how this week has flown by - Ali will be here Sat around dinner time - how quick did that happen?
Could be something to do with the fact I shuffled a bunch of things around in my craft room. Brought up an old desk of my mom's - the front drops down and figured it would be a perfect spot for my mini laptop - so of course I had to clean it out - talk about a walk down memory lane - I spent a good portion of yesterday shredding old company documents but found my parent's wedding licence among other things - didn't realize she had two copies.....what was I thinking....my Mom had multiple copies of everything.....
Anyway the desk now resides in my craft room and I have filled one of the drawers with envelopes and another with ink, embossing powders, etc.
Lovely to have some drawers to hide the things I use infrequently.
Also got around to making some cards....funny how when I go into to tidy, I end up making cards instead!

It's Friday

Not sure where the week has gone - had to work Wed and Thur - but what happened to Mon & Tues.......? Never mind 8 more sleeps until Ali arrives.....will be nice to give her a big hug........in the meantime I have to work the weekend and plan on sorting out the storage room in the basement next week.....have been meaning to do that.....forever......a good job to keep me busy until she gets here. Might do a little card making also!

Countdown

Our daughter who lives in Brisbane, Australia is coming home for a two week visit to finalize wedding details - so the countdown is on - 12 sleeps until she arrives - can you tell we have really missed her? We are fortunate this year - we will get to see her at least twice - first time later this month and then again when they get married!

Valentine's Day cards - update

Set about making male Valentine's Day cards - need some for challenge, mingle and personal use - You might be able to see the changes on the blue one - decided it needed something more so added a bit of ribbon(no bow) and a tiny red heart. Liked it so decided to make another - green this time - same card - different stamp. I liked the embossed background and wanted to try it on different embossed image, my heat gun died - yup, no juice - funny how it throws you - tried it a variety of outlets NOPE - dead - DH took it apart and thinks it is switch because no fan and no heat. Sad - looking at getting another but think I want the Heat It because it is quieter and doesn't blow like the others......Hmmmm.....think I can find one in this city of a million people.....NOT!!!!

There is a challenge to try the faux leather technique on card at PaperCraftPlanet cuttlebug group - decided to make Valentine's Day card - think it turned out masculine enough to send to man?

More Embossing folder cards

Decided while I was in the mood, I should give the rest of the embossing folders a spin. Snowflakes2( don't they already have a snowflakes?), Christmas stars (why do they have to be Christmas stars???? work pretty good all year!, roses, daisies, and daisy pattern. Love them all! Only one I have made into card is holly&berries - it's coming!
