Cards Arrived - Daughter off to Beachcomb and Snorkel

Well Ali got her cards and she loves them - will post some of them here - she and Corinne are now on Margaret Island off the coast of Australia to snorkel and beachcomb for a whole week. They called just as the little tiny plane was landing to take them to the island. Ali says it was just big enough to maybe hold 4 passengers. They sure sounded excited - hope she takes lots of pictures.

Daughter

Thought I would share the latest with my daughter. Some of you already know my daughter left Jan 22 for Brisbane, Australia to be with the man of her dreams. She has found a job with a travel agency and is loving living in Brisbane. Her best friend left here Thursday, the 24th to spend two weeks with Ali in Australia. So far they have been to the Koala sanctuary (not just koalas, but kangaroos and wallabys too!) then yesterday they flew to Sydney for the day. Ali says you can't go all the way to Australia and not see the Opera House, the bridge or the harbour. So the two of them spent the day in Sydney - how fun is that? Her Dad's and my turn next I think!

It's been a busy week

Worked Thursday, Friday and Sunday this week so not very much time to play and make cards. I did manage to get the challenge card done for Pink Cat Studios - new stamp set called Lily - isn't she cute - challenge was create card using PCS stamps with colors red and purple.

Lots of Card Making

At work on Saturday, I took some cards to show the ladies what I had been doing in my time off - they liked them so much that four of them have asked me to make them some. Three of these ladies have little children so they want a stash of Birthday cards. So needless to say I have gone into production mode yet again. Have lost count at how many I have made but will have to package them to take to hospital on Wednesday so will count them tomorrow and post pictures.
Corinne, my daughter's best friend, leaves Thursday and gets to Brisbane on Saturday. They have a few days planned in Brisbane until Corinne gets time adjusted, then they are off on a mini vacation to an island off the coast of Australia for a week. They plan on living in their bathing suits and snorkeling - how good does life get? In addition to the shoes and boots she wants, Ali also asked if I could look and see the prices of Sex and the City DVDs - as she has finished watching the first season and all she has is season 5 and part 2 of season 6. So went to Best Buy to price them out - 29.99 which I thought was pretty good, so got everything she wanted and when I got to the till - all were on sale for 19.99 each how good is that?????? and she is thrilled to be getting them as that will make her set complete.
It's cold today - trying to decide if it should rain or snow - my son called tonight to say he has put the blankets on the horses and says they have 2" just north of Cochrane. Wish spring would come and stay. Maybe if I ask nicely?

New Technique for me

Have had opportunity to try a new technique - this really isn't new - I am just getting around to trying it! I cut out two butterflies from blister packing (waste not, want not!) and took the alcohol inks I have had for two years - and colored them - think they turned out rather nice.

Weekend

Have had a full weekend - card making with Sandy (she made five) but then after she left I got into gear and made some cards that a work colleague wanted. Also made a run to Michaels as needed more ribbon for these cards and everything cuttlebug is 50% off - didn't think they would have much in stock but was pleasantly surprised to see they had an engine, train car and caboose in stock as well as an elephant so came home with purse a little lighter and my cuttlebug stash a little more complete. Got 10 cards put together last night.

new Cards arrived

This week saw two cards arrive in my mailbox. One is from a group where we sign up, make and send two cards every month - and in return we receive two cards every month. There are no "rules" about what the card must have, so it really fun to see what arrives. This month I rec'd the first card from Karen in Nova Scotia - she used a SU set - using a word to make a stem for a flower - and layered yellow and green card stock. Wonderful ideas.
Another card arrived from Teena in Ont. This was from a cuttlebug mingle for the month of March. Rules were something had to been cuttlebugged on the card and you had to use a new or unused stamp. She says she's not a stamper but from the looks of her card, you could have fooled me. It is such an appropriate card to send to someone who lives in Calgary. Red and white hockey jersey on red embossed background. What a fun card.

Fun Wednesday

On Wednesday, a work colleague and I drove to Edmonton. She is working towards her Masters in Nursing and takes a course at U of A on Wednesdays. I dropped her off about noon and drove on to a stamp store I had heard about. It was full of stamps so spent a lot of time looking before I started deciding what needed to come home with me. The store pretty much had a little of everything so was able to get some things I had been wanting. Visited a second store which was pretty much dedicated to scrapbooking but was able to find the owl stamp there. Took a picture of the stash I brought home. Picked my friend up about 4 and we drove to Gasoline Alley for supper at Glenns and we were home before 8. All in all a very good day.
